Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important official stated the vandalism made him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
